Athen holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Minnesota Rochester and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of South Dakota.

Athen’s experience and background in human development and client-centered care drives her to provide appropriate and motivated services to her clients through a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities. Some of these include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy(DBT), Acceptance and Comittment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems Therapy. Athen also values practices involving the mind-body connection in her work.

As Licensed Graduate Social Worker- Temporary Licsense with the state of Minnesota, Athen is currently working towards her Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work license. In her free time, Athen enjoys spending time with her husband and two cats, camping, birdwatching, and cooking.
